Diy Project: How To Make A Revolving Book Stand

Materials required:
2 pieces, top and bottom: 3/4 by 16 by 16 inches
1 piece, partition: 3/4 by 9 1/2 by 13 3/4 inches
6 pieces, partitions and sides: 3/4 by 9 1/2 by 7 1/4 inches
1 piece, post support: 3/4 by 6 by 6 inches
1 turning block: 3 by 3 by 12 inches
4 legs: 3/4 by 3 by 8 inches

NOTE: All maple stock or pine body.

1 dowel: 1 1/4 inches
8 dowels: 3/8 by 2 inches
4 1/4-inch No.10 flat-head wood screws
10 1 1/2-inch No.9 flat-head wood screws
10 mortise fasteners (Stanley No.1912)
1 metal washer: 1/8 by 2 1/2 inches
1 pin: 3/32 inch

First, construct the body by joining partitions and sides with 3/8-inch dadoes.Screw on the chamfered or rounded bottom.The top is secured using mortise fasteners.

Turn the post and cut out the legs.Glue 3/8-inch dowels to fasten the legs to the post.Cut a 1/4 by 2 1/2 by 2 1/2-inch square out of the post support to receive the washer and pin, and bore for the dowel.Glue a 1 1/4-inch dowel in the post top.Put support with washer over the dowel on post, and insert pin through dowel.Then screw the support assembly to the bookcase bottom.

Stain using pine or maple.Paste wood filler must first be put on to hardwood parts.Wipe on penetrating non-shellac wood sealer.Once dry, rub gently using fine steel wool or pumice and water.Finish with paste wax.
