Easy Diy Compost Bins You Can Make

In garden supply catalogs, you will find commercial variants of compost bins that come with hefty prices. If you are one of those gardeners with who love to recycle, you could make compost bins for a fraction of the regular cost. Here are four DIY compost bin ideas:

1) Snow fence or chicken wire make effective round bins. Eleven feet of fencing can make a bin 3 feet wide and 4 feet high. As closures, simply use the wire ends. To stabilize, tie it to a piece of metal pipe buried into the ground.

2) Slatted wooden shipping

pallets can be used to construct excellent and durable compost bins and are commonly free for the taking (check with factories, groceries, hardware shops, or garden supplies). Drill holes on the edges and
bind together at the corners, or push rods into the ground and slip pallet sides over the rods.

3) Recycle surplus wood pieces into frames to build a four-sided box. Staple wire mesh securely to cover the sides, then attach all the sides together.

4) Pile cinder blocks to create a three-sided bin. Allow 1- to 2-inch gaps between adjacent blocks and distribute the rows to supply ventilation. Four levels of blocks is high enough to confine a compost heap.
